Regulated services
Regulation is of course at the heart of any network. However, it
is important to distinguish between Compliance and T&C.
Put another way, it is wrong to state that a network provides a
compliance service only. It is, of course, important to ensure that
the processes and procedures relate to both compliance and T&C
areas. Ours stem from the experience gained as an IFA company -
as mentioned earlier, Whitechurch's relationship with the Regulator
began with NASDIM, and followed with FIMBRA, PIA and now the FSA.
Details of the services in each area are shown below.
Compliance Services
- Production and upkeep of the compliance manual
- Additional regular compliance bulletins
- Compliance audits
- Compliance helpline
- Compliance reports to the member
- Provision of materials designed to assist the drafting of suitability
letters
- Full involvement with any complaints received
- Compliance procedures
Training and Competency Services
- Full Training and Competency (T&C) procedures
- T&C reports to the member
- T&C helpline
- Production and upkeep of the T&C manual
- Regular training and competency bulletins
- Training and competency audits
- An individually tailored T&C plan for each authorised person
- Induction meetings, role play and case study training
- Attendance at any Whitechurch Network regional and training
meetings
Please note the following additional points in relation to our
approach:
- We allocate a field-based supervisor to each authorised person
within your firm. We see little point in asking that a particular
authorised person is nominated as an 'in house' supervisor and
again the FSA have confirmed that this is their preferred method.
- Your supervisor has responsibility for both Compliance and T&C,
so your training and competency plan can be formulated efficiently.
We feel that the relationship you build with your 'compliance
supervisor' is more akin to the relationship you would typically
build with a business development manager.
